Auto Tint Basics

What Is Car Window Tinting?

Car window tinting is a thin, durable film applied to the inside of your car's glass. It reduces solar heat, glare and UV rays while adding privacy.

Good window film makes every drive more comfortable, protects your interior from fading and gives your car a clean, finished look. We help you choose the film and shade that suit your car, your budget and Virginia's tint law, then install it with tight edges and no bubbles.

Benefits

Why Tint Your Car Windows

Window tint is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a daily driver.

Dedicated tint specialists

  • Cooler Cabin

Window film rejects solar heat, so the car is more comfortable on hot days and the A/C works less.

  • UV Protection

Quality film blocks most UV rays, protecting your skin and keeping seats and dashboards from fading and cracking.

  • Less Glare

Cuts sun glare on morning commutes and headlight glare at night for easier, safer driving.

  • More Privacy

Darker rear glass keeps bags, laptops and car seats out of view when you park.

  • Safer Glass

If a window breaks, the film helps hold the pieces together instead of scattering them inside the car.

  • Sleek, Clean Look

An even, well-fitted tint gives any car, SUV or truck a finished look.

Stay Legal

Virginia Window Tint Law

Virginia limits how dark each window can be. Every shade we recommend follows the law for your vehicle type.

Virginia window tint limits: how much light each window must let in
WindowSedansSUVs, Vans & Trucks
WindshieldAbove the AS-1 line onlyAbove the AS-1 line only
Front side windowsMore than 50%More than 50%
Rear side windowsMore than 35%Any darkness
Back windowMore than 35%Any darkness

Percentages are the light the glass must let through. Reflective film is limited to 20% on side windows, and drivers with a qualifying medical condition can apply to the Virginia DMV for an exemption.

Choose Your Film

Window Tint Film Types

The film matters as much as the shade. Here's how the main types compare.

  • Dyed Film

The budget choice. It darkens the glass for privacy and cuts some glare, with less heat rejection.

  • Carbon Film

A matte, true-black look that rejects more heat than dyed film and won't fade to purple over time.

  • Ceramic Film

Rejects the most heat and UV, even in lighter shades, and won't interfere with phone, GPS or radio signals.

How We Do It

How Our Window Tinting Works

A careful, step-by-step install that keeps dust out and edges clean.

  1. 1

    Consultation

We talk through your goals, the film options and Virginia's legal limits, then confirm your price.

  2. 2

    Glass Prep

Every window is deep cleaned, edges included, so no dust or debris ends up under the film.

  3. 3

    Precision Cut

The film is cut to the exact shape of each window for full coverage and tight edges.

  4. 4

    Heat Shrink & Install

Film is heat-formed to curved glass and squeegeed on for a smooth, bubble-free finish.

  5. 5

    Final Check

We inspect every window and explain the curing time and how to care for your new tint.

Local Know-How

Why Fairfax Drivers Tint Their Windows

Northern Virginia driving puts a lot of sun through your glass. Here's why local drivers choose auto tint.

  • Hot, Humid Summers

A car parked in the summer sun heats up fast. Tint keeps the cabin noticeably cooler.

  • Long Commutes

Hours on I-66, Route 50 and the Beltway mean constant sun and glare through the side glass.

  • Busy Parking Lots

Privacy tint keeps valuables out of sight at work, Metro lots and shopping centers.

  • Protecting the Interior

UV-blocking film helps leather, dashboards and trim stay newer for longer.

FAQ

Questions? Answered.

What Fairfax drivers ask before booking window tint.

  • The price depends on your vehicle, how many windows you want tinted and the film you choose. Send us your car's year, make and model with a free quote request and we'll give you an exact price.

  • On sedans, the front side windows must let in more than 50% of light and the rear side and back windows more than 35%. On SUVs, vans and trucks, the front side windows must let in more than 50%, while the rear side and back windows can be darker. Windshield tint is only allowed above the AS-1 line. We'll help you pick a legal shade.

  • Dyed film is the budget choice and mainly adds privacy. Carbon film rejects more heat and won't fade to purple. Ceramic window film rejects the most heat and UV without affecting phone, GPS or radio signals. We'll explain the options for your car when you request a quote.

  • Yes. Quality automotive window film blocks most UV rays, which helps protect your skin on long drives and keeps your seats and dashboard from fading and cracking.

  • Give the film a few days to cure first, usually 3 to 5 days and longer in cold weather. A little haze or small water pockets while it cures is normal and clears up on its own.

  • Virginia allows non-reflective tint on the windshield only above the AS-1 line, a small mark near the top of the glass. A windshield sun strip is a popular way to cut glare on early morning and evening commutes.

  • Our own tint specialists. Zoraiz Arshad has 3 years of tint experience and trained at several local shops, and Faris Zaraoun has 2 years of experience and trained with top tint shops.
